The Ultimate Classic Sports Car and is probably one of the finest on the market and being a concours winner. 1968 Triumph TR5. This original UK Right Hand Drive car is a true gem. With all matching numbers and accompanied by the original Heritage Certificate and Green log book confirming it's 3 previous owners. The TR5 is not just a masterpiece of design; it was mechanically ahead of it's time. Triumph, the manufacturer, replaced their previous 105 bhp (78 kW) engine with a ground breaking Lucas mechanical fuel-injected 150 bhp (110 kW) 2.5-litre straight-6 engine. This innovation was revolutionary in its time, as fuel injection was rare in road cars. In fact, Triumph proudly claimed in their sales brochure that this TR5 was the "First British production sports car with petrol injection. "Meticulously maintained and cherished, this Triumph TR5 stands out as a remarkable example even among seasoned professionals. Being an ex-team driver and tester of Triumphs, and I can honestly say this is one of the finest examples I have had the pleasure in owning. Unlike its successors, the TR5 was produced in limited numbers, with just 2,947 cars manufactured between 29 August 1967 and 19 September 1968. Out of these, a mere 1,161 were intended for the UK market. A comprehensive total body off nut and bolt restoration, with a staggering investment of approximately £24,000 having been spent and being cherished ever since, has breathed new life into this classic beauty. Every aspect has been meticulously addressed, from a bare metal respray that showcases its timeless original Old English White exterior to a brand new Black interior piped in White that exudes elegance and sophistication. The engine and gearbox have been painstakingly rebuilt to ensure optimal performance and reliability. All new chrome wire wheels with new tyres. The new mohair hood, with removable rear screen, adds a touch of sophistication, completing the picture of motoring perfection. This Triumph TR5 comes complete with a full lever arch file of paperwork, including detailed bills and photographs and records of MOTs and tax discs. It's a testament to the care and attention this vehicle has received, providing you with peace of mind and transparency.
